Mustafa Nur-Ul Islam’s body taken at Shaheed Minar

Staff Correspondent: The body of noted litterateur, National Professor and Language Movement hero Professor Mustafa Nur-Ul Islam has been kept at the Central Shaheed Minar in Dhaka so that people from all walks of life can pay their last respects to him.

The body was taken to the Central Shaheed Minar around 11.00am on Friday.

The body of the National Professor was kept at Apollo Hospital.

Nur-Ul Islam will be taken at Dhaka University Central Mosque after Juma prayers.

His namaz -e-janaza will be held after Asr prayers at Jahangirnagar University.

After namaz -e-janaza, Nur-Ul Islam will be buried in Mirpur Martyred Intellectuals' graveyard.

Mustafa Nur-Ul Islam passed away due to old-age complications in Dhaka on Wednesday night.

He was 92.

The academic was honoured as a National Professor of Bangladesh in 2011 while he was rewarded with Ekushey Padak in 1981 and Independence Day Award in 2010.

Cultural affairs minister Assaduzzaman Noor offered his condolences to the bereaved family members of the accomplished academic.

Islam was a professor at Jahangirnagar University and former director general of Bangla Academy.
