Anti-drug drive underway at Hazaribagh

Staff Correspondent: Members of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) are conducting an anti-drug drive at Ganaktuli area in the capital's Hazaribagh.
A large number of police members cordoned off the area and conducted the drive that began at Sweeper colony in the area at 11:00am on Sunday.
Maruf Hossain Sarder, deputy commissioner (DC) of Ramna Division, said that they are trying to arrest listed drug traders through this operation.
They are conducting the operation based on the information that regular sale of drugs are taking place at Sweeper colony in the area, he added.
He said detailed information will be disclosed after the operation ends.
Yesterday, law enforcers conducted similar drives at Geneva camp in Mohammadpur area and slums in Korail and TT para of the capital.
During the drive in Mohammadpur, 76 people were arrested in eight cases while the rest 77 were sentenced to six months to two years by the accompanying mobile court. Whilst, 52 people were detained from Korail slum and TT para.
