Staff Correspondent: The High Court (HC) has set Monday for bail order on three separate petitions filed by BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia.

The HC bench comprising of Justice AKM Asaduzzaman and Justice JBM Hassan set the day for the order after hearing on Sunday.

Advocate Khandakar Mahbub Hossian and Advocate Zainul Abedin stood for BNP chief Khaleda Zia while Attorney General Mahbubey Alam and Deputy Attorney General Md Bashirullah represented the state in the court.

Earlier on Thursday, the court said that it would pass the order together on the three petitions after hearing on Sunday. But the court also took hearing on Sunday and fixed Monday for order.

Earlier hearing was also held on the petitions on May 22, 23 and 24.

On May 20, BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia filed the three separate petitions with HC seeking bail in three separate cases filed in Cumilla and Narail.

Among the three cases, two were filed in Comilla on charge of vandalising vehicles on January 25 in 2015 and killing seven persons and injuring 25-26 persons by setting fire on a passenger bus at an area of Chauddagram on February 2, 2015.

The third case was filed by Raihan Faruki Imam with a Narail court on September 24, 2015, for making a statement about the number of freedom fighters and Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

Khaleda made the comments on December 21, 2015, at a meeting at the Institution of Engineers Bangladesh (IEB) in Dhaka where she said that Sheikh Mujib did not want independence of the country, he wanted to be the prime minister of Pakistan.

Khaleda Zia also said that there is a controversy over the number of freedom fighters.
