Senior Correspondent: The United States (US) has expressed concern over extra judicial killings in anti-drug crusade across the country.
US Ambassador to Dhaka Marcia Stephens Bloom Bernicat told this to the reporters after holding a meeting with Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal at the Secretariat on Wednesday noon.
She said, “Extra-judicial killing is not an effective method of war against drugs. US is deeply concerned about the number of deaths in the operation. Everyone has the right to get justice as per rules.”
“We also want zero-tolerance against drugs. But we believe everyone should be brought under the law. The main culprit and its sources need to be closed. We are in doubt whether the drive would be successful without stopping sources of drugs,” she added.
Earlier, the US Ambassador discussed overall situation in the meeting with Home Minister.
