Citizens to get e-passport

Staff Correspondent: Now the citizens in the country can get the advantage of electronic passport (e-passport). The government has undertaken a project involving about Tk 4,635 crore to distribute these passports among the people.

The project was given an approval at a meeting at the NEC conference room in the capital's Shere Bangla Nagar on Thursday.

Chairperson of the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (Ecnec) and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina chaired the meeting.

The Department of Immigration and Passports (DIP) will begin implementing the project this year and is expected to complete the project by June, 2028. The project will be implemented at the cost of Tk 4,635 crore.
