Mill-factories to remain shut on June 26 in Gazipur

Staff Correspondent: All kinds of mill, factories, government and non-government offices will remain shut in Gazipur City Corporation (GCC) area on June 26, the day polls will be held in the city.
The Election Commission (EC) came up with an instruction in this regard on Thursday, after holding a meeting with BGMEA, BKMEA, ministry concerned and law enforcement agencies at Election Bhaban.
After the meeting, EC secretary Helal Uddin Ahmed said, “We urged leaders of business organizations to keep the mill-factories shut on June 26, the day polls is scheduled to be held in the city.”
“We also suggested them to keep open mill-factories on another public holiday to adopt the business,” he added.
“All vehicles except emergency services-- Ambulance, vehicles of Post Office, Fire Service and rubbish carriers of the city-- were instructed not to run in the area from midnight on June 24 (12:00am of June 25). Goods laden trucks specially shipment were ordered to shut since midnight of June 25 to midnight June 26,” he said.
