Staff Correspondent: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has said, "We are no longer a beggar country. Bangladesh is now a respected country".
The premier made the assertion while addressing a programme of Awami League at her official residence Ganabhaban in the capital on Saturday noon.
Sheikh Hasina said, "If politics remains correct then it is possible to develop the country. We are working for the development of people. We are no longer a beggar country."
She said, "Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman made Bangladesh a least developed country in just three and half years. Later, he was murdered. After losing family, Awami League became my family. I have got love of parents and brother from here."
The Awami League president said, "A politician will always think about the betterment of people. We have to work for the change of people's fate not ourselves."
