GCC polls: Jahangir Alam, Hasan Sarkar cast votes

Staff Correspondent, Gazipur: The Awami League candidate Jahangir Alam and BNP’s mayoral candidate Hasan Uddin Sarkar have cast their votes for Gazipur City Corporation (GCC).

Awami League’s Jahangir Alam cast his vote at the polling centre in Kanaiya Government Primary School at Joydebpur around 9:10am and BNP’s Hasan Uddin Sarkar cast his vote at the Bashir Uddin Udayan School and College polling centre at College gate area around 8:15am.

After casting vote, Jahangir Alam told reporters, "People are casting their votes in a merriment environment. I joined in the election to implement the citizen right. I welcome not only the votes of Awami League but also the votes of all party people."

"I want to build a planned city with all. I want that people of Gazipur will get a clean city," he said.

On the other hand, BNP backed candidate Hasan Uddin Sarkar expressed promise that if he becomes Mayor, he will convert Gazipur a modern town.
