Drug peddler killed in 'Gunfight' with Bhola DB

Bhola Correspondent: An alleged drug traders was killed in a gunfight with detectives in Bagmara Beribadh of Digholia union under sadar upazila of the district early Tuesday.

The deceased was identified as Jakir Hossain, 50.

DB police said Jakir Hossain was wanted in 19 cases including murder, extortion, drugs and fire arms.

Officer-in-charge of Detective Branch of district police said that being informed that a group of drug traders was conducting a secret meeting in the area, a team of detectives conducted a drive around 4:45 am and cordoned the area from two sides. Sensing the presence of the law enforcers, the drug traders opened fire on them, prompting them to retaliate for self-defense.

Meanwhile, a local made gun, five rounds of bullet, one kilogram of cannabis and a lethal weapon were recovered from the spot.
