Army Chief pays homage to Bangabandhu at Tungipara

Gopalganj Correspondent: Newly appointed Army Chief Aziz Ahmed paid tributes to Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman at his mausoleum at Tungipara of Gopalganj on Wednesday.

The Army Chief paid his homage placing a floral wreath at the mazar (mausoleum) of Bangabandhu around 10:15am. Meanwhile, a smartly turned out contingent of army presented a guard of honour as the bugle played the last post. 

Later, he offered Fateha and joined a munajat seeking eternal peace of the departed soul of Bangabandhu as well as other martyrs of the August 15 carnage.

GOC of 55 Infantry Division Major General Nayeem Ashfaq Chowdhury, SBP, OSP, PSC and 105 infantry brigade commander brigadier general SM Salahuddin Islam and others attendant there.   

Earlier, a helicopter, carrying the army chief, landed at Tungipara helipad around 10:00am.
