Construction works of model mosques begin: PM

Parliament Correspondent: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said the Awami League (AL) promised in the manifesto of 2014 general election to build a model mosque at every district and upazila.

The government has already started construction works of building a total of 560 mosques and cultural centers, one at every upazila and district level with the estimated cost of Tk 8, 7222 crore, she added.

The premier said this while replying to a question of Jatiya Party member Rustam Ali Faraji (Pirojpur-3) in the parliament session on Wednesday.

She said all mosques will be constructed all over rage country gradually. Construction of 100 model mosques will begin this year in the second phase of the project undertaken by the present government. Tender for building nine model mosques has been invited.
