Staff Correspondent: The news of 339 dead in road accidents during Eid journey across the country presented by Bangladesh Jatri Kalyan Samity was not authentic, claimed Road Transport and Highways Division.
The division under the Road Transport and Bridges Ministry came up with the claim in a press statement on Sunday.
According to the statement, the news of killing 339 people in road mishaps across the country in 13 days before and after Eid which was presented by Bangladesh Jatri Kalyan Samity was not true. The reality is that as per the information collected from different offices in district level, police record and government and non-government hospitals, 152 people were killed and 355 others were injured in 103 road crashes across the country since 12 June to 24 June.
The statement alleged that the unregistered organization in name of Jatri Kalyan is presenting misleading information for different times. The unregistered organisation invites honourable professionals to a press briefing with tactics in aiming to create confusion in common people over road mishaps.
