Suspected robber killed in Sirajganj ‘gunfight’

Sirajganj Correspondent:  A suspected robber was killed in a reported ‘gunfight’ with Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) members in Paikpara of Ullapara upazila early Friday.

The deceased was identified as Hazrat Ali, 42, son of Mahmud Ali at Ponkharua village under Udhunia union.

According to sources, on a tip off, a team of RAB went to the spot around 2:20am. Sensing presence of the force, the robbers opened fire on the RAB men, prompting them to take action that triggered a gunfight.

Later, the RAB members recovered a dead body and seized two shutter guns, 14 cartridges, one axe, a sharp weapon and three bullets from the spot.
