Voting situation satisfactory: EC

Staff Correspondent: The voting in three city corporations is being held amid boycott, allegations of vote rigging and other irregularities.

Election Commissioner Shahadat Hossain Chowdhury said, "Some untoward incidents were reported just after beginning of the polls. We directed Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) and police to bring the situation under control. Later, the law enforcers brought the situation under control immediately."

Voters are standing outside of the voting centers maintaining line. They all are waiting to cast their votes. The overall situation of the polls is better now."

Following the Barisal candidate boycott issue, he said, "Boycotting vote is not the solution. They could face court if they have any allegation. But, there is no logic to boycott voting."

Election Commissioner Mahbub Talukdar said, "The allegations from Barisal are under investigation. The decision from the commission will be disclosed later."
