War crimes convict gets bail

Staff Correspondent: Abdul Quddus, who was jailed for 20 years for his crimes against humanity during the Liberation War of 1971, has got a six-month bail.
A four-member Appellate Division bench headed by Chief Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain granted his bail on Thursday.The court granted bail to the convicted war criminal for the first time as he is suffering from cancer.
The International Crimes Tribunal (ICT)-1 convicted Quddus along with his three partners in crimes for their misdeeds during the War of Liberation in 1971 in Noakhali area.
The tribunal sentenced Quddus to 20 years imprisonment, while his cohorts Amir Ali, Md Joynal Abedin and Abul Kalam alias AKM Monsur were sentenced to death.
