Shajahan Khan rules out resignation

Secretariat Correspondent: Shipping Minister Shajahan Khan has ruled out the possibility of his resignation demanded after the road crash on Airport road which claimed lives of two college students.
He said, “I will not step down as it was a demand by BNP. There is no question of resignation to meet BNP’s demand. People do not want of my resignation. Even students also did not demand for my resignation. I will quit once people demand.”
In reply to a query, the Minister came up with the observation at his office at the ministry at the Secretariat on Thursday.
When asked if PM orders to quit, he said, “I’m ready to step down once PM orders.”
Shajahan Khan said, “Intensity of the students’ movement started decreasing. Vehicles of Bangladesh Road Transport Corporation (BRTC) are plying on different routes. Even then, public transports are very low on roads. I talked to the transport owners and leaders. They stopped transports in fear of damages.”
“Common people are facing sufferings for this. Talks were made with owners and workers to relieve the suffering to people,” he added.
