Rangpur Metropolitan Police launches Sept 16

Staff Correspondent, Rangpur: Rangpur Metropolitan Police is set to launch its journey on September 16 officially.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is expected to inaugurate the programme on the day.
Abul Alim, commissioner of Rangpur Metropolitan Police, came up with the disclosure in a press briefing at the city’s Dhap police outpost, makeshift office of the metropolitan, on Thursday.
He said, "PM Sheikh Hasina will open the activities of the Metropolitan through video conference. With this, activities of six police stations of Rangpur Metropolitan Police will start journey."
To launch the activities of the metropolitan, a total of 470 police officials including a commissioner, an additional commissioner, two deputy commissioners, an additional deputy commissioner, five assistant commissioners joined there.
Besides, 295 more cops are awaiting to join Rangpur Metropolitan Police.
The Metropolitan will start its journey with 47 vehicles including four zips, eight double-cabin pick-ups, a microbus, an ambulance, a 1.5-ton truck, a 3-ton truck and 31 motorbikes.
