Staff Correspondent: A probe body has been formed to investigate into the emergency landing of US-Bangla flight at the Chattogram airport on Wednesday.
Further steps will be taken after the four-member probe committee would submit the report.
Rezaul Karim, Public Relations Officer (PRO) of Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB), confirmed the news.
He said, “A four-member probe body led by Aircraft Accident Investigation Group of Bangladesh chief captain Salah Uddin M Rahmatullah has been formed to investigate into the emergency landing of US-Bangla flight in Chattogram. Reasons behind the accident will be unearthed after investigation.”
Earlier, flight of US-Bangla Airlines – BS-141 narrowly escaped an accident as it was forced to make an emergency landing at Shah Amanat International Airport in Chattogram due to its non-functional nose gear.
The aircraft with 164 passengers, including 11 children, on board made an emergency landing at the airport at 1:20 pm, according to Shah Amanat International Airport Manager Wing Commander Sarowar-e-Azam.
As a technical glitch developed, the flight made an emergency landing at Shah Amanat International Airport as there was no facility of making emergency landing at Cox's Bazar Airport, he said.
However, there was no casualty in the incident, Kamrul said.
The nose gear of the aircraft was not working due to technical glitch and it flew in Chattogram sky for some time before landing at Shah Amanat International Airport, he added.
The runway of the airport was shut after the emergency landing but the aircraft was removed from the runway using a crane, he said.
On March 12, at least 51 people, including 26 Bangladeshi nationals, were killed as a US-Bangla Airlines aircraft crashed and burst into flames at Tribhuvan International Airport in the capital of the Himalayan country of Nepal.
