EVM to protect voters’ interest: CEC

Staff Correspondent, Khulna: Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) AKM Nurul Huda has said that electronic voting machine (EVM) system has been introduced in a bid to protect the interest of voters and bring transparency and permanent solution in voting management.

He said this at the inaugural function of EVM exhibition organized by the Election Commission at Zia Hall in Khulna city on Saturday noon.

He said, “It will not be necessary to guard centers and ballot boxes on the voting night. At the same time, there will be no chance of snatching ballot papers and giving another’s vote. However, EVM will be used only if it legally is acceptable to all”.
