EVM to be rejected if flaws found: EC Rafiqul

Staff Correspondent, Rajshahi: Election Commissioner (EC) Md Rafiqul Islam said Electronic Voting Machine (EVM) would be rejected if flaws in it can be proved.

He said, “An initiative of using EVM has been taken to save tree resources and to reduce use of papers. Besides, through this vote rigging and ballot paper snatching would be possibly prevented.”

The Election Commissioner came up with the statement while speaking at EVM exhibition opening programme in Rajshahi on Saturday.

“EVMs will be used regarding on political parties, candidates and voters. If you (people) think it is not acceptable, it will be rejected. You can check it. There is no internet connection in EVM. It will not be hacked. There is no scope to cast vote from earlier. EVM will be rejected if you can prove any flaw in it.”
