Steps being taken to demolish 255 vulnerable city buildings

Parliament Correspondent: Housing and Public Works Minister Engineer Mosharraf Hossain on Sunday told Parliament that steps are being taken to demolish 255 vulnerable buildings in the capital.

The minister said this while replying to a starred question from treasury bench MP M Abdul Latif (Chattogram-11).

“Rajdhani Unnayan Kartripakkha (Rajuk) has identified 321 risky buildings in the city since 2010. Of the buildings, 255 are still there,” he said.

Of the remaining buildings, the minister said, the owners reconstructed 28 buildings, while demolished 38 buildings.

“Steps are being taken to demolish or remove the existing 255 risky buildings through discussions with the owners,” he told the House.
