Khaleda’s appeal verdict Tuesday

Staff Correspondent: The High Court (HC) has set Tuesday to deliver its verdict on appeal petition filed over judgement in Zia Orphanage Trust graft case against BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia.

The bench comprising of Justice M Enayetur Rahim and Justice Md Mostafizur Rahman came up with the verdict on Monday.

Advocate Khurshid Alam Khan moved for the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) while no lawyer was present for Khaleda Zia in the court.

The Special Court-5 in Dhaka sentenced BNP chief Khaleda Zia to 7-year imprisonment in the case on February 08. Since, she has been in the Old-Dhaka central jail on Nazimuddin Road in the capital. Later, she was taken to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) Hospital in line with court order.

Khaleda Zia filed a petition against verdict, seeking acquittal in the case.

Meanwhile, BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia was also sentenced to 7-year imprisonment in Zia Charritable Trust graft case on Monday (October 29).
