Vegetable prices drop in Dhaka

Staff Correspondent: Prices of vegetables have started falling in the kitchen markets around the capital with the arrival of fresh crops of the winter season. The average price of vegetable fell about Tk10 to Tk30.

Visiting different kitchen markets including Jigatola, New-market, Rayerbazar this correspondent witnessed that the price of most of the vegetable reduced than last week.

Brinjal was selling at Tk 45 to Tk50 per kg while it was sold Tk55 to Tk60 per kg one week ago.

Besides, the price of cucumber is Tk 30. Tomato is selling at Tk 80 to Tk 90. Lady’s finger is selling at Tk 45, pointed gourd is selling at Tk40, yardlong bean at Tk 70 and bitter gourd is selling at Tk 65 per kg.

Chilli is selling at Tk 80, carrot at Tk 60, potato is selling at Tk25. The price of cabbage has fallen. Cabbage is selling at Tk 40 per piece.  

However, the price of Chicken (broiler) was unchanged. Chicken (broiler) was selling at Tk 140 per kg while chicken (local) Tk 210 to Tk 300.
