All allegations brought against me are false: EC secy

Staff Correspondent: Election Commission (EC) Secretary Helal Uddin Ahmed has ruled out all allegations brought against him are totally false.

He said, “You know that I stay at the Election Commission (EC) from 8:00pm to 9:00pm every day.  It is not possible to go there. The press conference held in this regard is totally false.”

The EC secretary said this while briefing media at media centre of Nirbachan Bhaban in the capital’s Agargaon around 6:15pm on Saturday.

Helal Uddin said, “EC secretary is an official of republic. I serve in an independent body and obey all the directives of EC. There is no scope, also no entity for him to do any work without directive of EC.”

The EC secretary also condemned the press conference arranged by BNP, saying “I urge the party to stop such a false propaganda.”

In reply to a query, he said, “Decision on whether any step would be taken against the false allegation, will be taken after discussion with EC on tomorrow (Sunday).
