Robber killed in Kushtia gunfight

Kushtia Correspondent: A suspected robber was killed in a gunfight between two groups of robbers in Mollaeghoria canal para, Kushtia early Sunday.

The deceased was identified as Khokon Ali alias Hatkata Thandu, 45, son of late Aijal Ali, hailed from Pukurpara area of Alampur village of Sadar upazila.

Police claimed that two gangs of robbers locked into a gunfight over establishing supremacy in the area around 3:00am. Being informed about a gunfight, a team of police conducted drive in the area. Meanwhile, sensing presence of police, the gang members opened fire and fled away the scene, leaving four policemen injured.

Later, the law enforcers rescued Khokon as bullet hit and sent him to Kushtia General Hospital where the duty doctors declared him dead.

Confirming the matter, Nasir Uddin, officer-in-charge of Kushtia model police station said a foreign-made pistol and four round of bullets were recovered from the spot.
