Narendra Modi congratulates Sheikh Hasina

Risingbd Desk: Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended his heartfelt congratulations to Bangladesh Premier and Awami League President Sheikh Hasina on securing her party’s absolute majority in the 11^th parliamentary elections held yesterday (December 30).

PM’s Press Secretary Ihsanul Karim told this to the media.

“The Indian premier phoned Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Monday morning and congratulated her, the Awami League and the people of Bangladesh on securing her party’s absolute majority in the national elections held on Sunday,” Ihsanul Karim said.

According to the results announced by the Election Commission, an alliance led by Hasina’s Awami League won 288 of the 298 seats.

In the election, Jatiya Oikyafront has got seven seats and independent candidates got three.

Through the landslide victory, Awami League President Sheikh Hasina made a history and is going to be the prime minister of Bangladesh for the fourth term.
