‘First priority to be continuation of economic activities’

Staff Correspondent: Prime Minister and Awami League president Sheikh Hasina said, “Our first priority will be the continuation of the economic activities so that the people can get better life.”

Sheikh Hasina said this while exchanging views with foreign journalists at her official Ganobhaban residence in Dhaka on Monday.

She said, “People voted us as they got the benefit of developments. On the other hand, opposition’s debacle in the polls was caused by their own faults and weakness.”

“The people of the country are main judges. The people voted after judging me,” she added.



Mentioning BNP’s leadership vacuum, she said, “It was their one of the main weak sides as their party chairperson Khaleda Zia was serving a prison term on graft charges while acting BNP chief “fugitive” Tarique Rahman was staying abroad to evade a life term imprisonment for masterminding the deadly 2004 grenade attack.”

Sheikh Hasina also said, “I am the Prime Minister of all. I will work as the premier of all for next five years.”
