Re-election in 3 polling centres of Brahmanbaria-2 Jan 9

Staff Correspondent: The Election Commission (EC) has decided to hold polls in three polling centres in Brahmanbaria-2 constituency, where voting had been suspended due to various irregularities during Sunday’s national election.

The three centres where voting was suspended are Jatrapur Government Primary School, Bahadurpur Government Primary School, and Sohagpur South Government Primary School.

The returning officer for the constituency was given directives to arrange re-voting on January 9 at those polling centres, read a letter signed by the Election Commission Joint Secretary Forhad Ahmed Khan on Tuesday.

Based on the returning officer's report, the BNP candidate, Abdus Sattar Bhuiyan, was ahead with 82,723 votes, while his closest rival, independent candidate Moinuddin Moin Kolarchra had polled 72,564 votes.

Thus, the difference in votes between the two leading contestants is 10,159.
