ACC chairman ashamed of jailing wrong accused

Staff Correspondent: Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) Chairman Iqbal Mahmood has expressed sorrows over serving a wrong accused in jail in cases filed by the anti-corruption body.

In reply to a query at ACC headquarters on Tuesday, he said, “It was a matter of unfortunate. We are ashamed of the matter. We made a serious mistake as an institution. Whenever noticed the mistake, we took steps to make Jahalam, the wrong accused, free.”

“Today, I told my officials that we will file a fresh case after Jahalam released in the 32 cases filed against him. So that, the mystery behind the incident uncovered,” he added.

Saying other person or institution might be involved in the incident, he said, “We have to unearth story behind. This is not a deed for a single side.”
