HC orders jail authorities to release Jahalom

Staff Correspondent: The High Court (HC) directed the jail authorities to release Jahalom immediately who was thrown into jail in cheque forgery cases filed by Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).

The bench of Justice FRM Nazmul Ahasan and Justice KM Kamrul Kader passed the order on Sunday. 

Lawyer Md Khurshid Alam Khan moved for the Anti-Corruption Commission while lawyer Amit Das Gupta stood for the victim Jahalom.

Later, the lawyer of Jahalom said, the High Court released him in 26 cases. However, there was no charge-sheet in seven other cases. Following the court verdict, there is no bar to release him from jail.

Earlier on January 28, the HC summoned four people including ACC officials to explain the issue.

Jahalom, son of Yusuf Ali of Tangail, was thrown into jail in April 2016 in 32 cheque forgery cases filed by the anti-graft watchdog.
