Newly-elected women MPs take oath

Staff Correspondent: The newly-elected Members of Parliament to the seats reserved for women in the 11th parliament were sworn in on Wednesday morning.
Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury administered the oath to the newly-elected MPs at the oath-taking room of the Jatiya Sangsad.
The Speaker first administered the oath to the elected MPs of the ruling Awami League and then MPs of Jatiya Party in separate functions.
Earlier, The Election Commission published an official gazette with the names of 49 elected candidates for the parliamentary reserved seats exclusively for women.
According to the gazette published on Sunday, 43 elected women MPs are from ruling Awami League, four from Jatiya Party, one from Workers Party and another is independent.
Earlier on Saturday, the 49 candidates, vying for the reserved seats of the 11th parliament, were elected unopposed as returning officer Abul Kashem declared them unofficial victors after the deadline for the withdrawal of candidature expired.
The officially elected AL women MPs are - Suborna Mostafa, Shirin Ahmed, Zinnatul Bakia, Shabnam Jahan and Nahid Ijhar Khan (Dhaka), Khadizatul Anwar and Wasika Ayesha Khan (Chattogram), Kaniz Fatema Ahmed (Cox's Bazar), Bashanti Chakma (Khagrachhari), Anjum Sultana and Arma Dutta (Cumilla), Umme Fatema Nazma Begum (Brahmanbaria), Shamsunnahar Bhuiyan and Rumana Ali (Gazipur), Sultana Nadira (Barguna), Hosne Ara (Jamalpur), Habiba Rahman Khan and Zakia Parvin Khanam (Netrakona), Sheikh Any Rahman (Gopalganj), Aparajita Haque and Khandaker Mamata Hena Lovely (Dhaka), Shamima Akter Khanam (Sunamganj), Fazilatun Nesa (Munshiganj), Rabeya Alim (Nilphamari), Tamanna Nusrat Bubli (Narsingdi), Nargis Rahman (Gopalganj), Monira Sultana (Mymensingh), Khaleda Khanam (Jhenidah), Syeda Rubina Mira (Barishal), Kazi Kaniz Sultana (Patuakhali), Gloria Jharna Sarker (Khulna), Zakia Tabassum (Dinajpur), Farida Khanom Saki (Noakhali), Roshema Begum (Faridpur), Syeda Rashida Begum (Kushtia), Syeda Zohra Alauddin (Moulvibazar), Adiba Anjum Mita (Rajshahi), Ferdousi Islam (Chapainawaganj), Parvin Haque Sikder (Shariatpur), Tahmina Begum (Madaripur), Khodeza Nasrin Akter Hossain (Rajbari), Nadira Yasmin Jolly (Pabna) and Ratna Ahmed (Natore). The Jatiya Party women MPs are - Salma Islam (Dhaka), Rowshan Ara Mannan (Cumilla), Nazma Akter (Feni) and Masuda M Rashid Chowdhury (Chattogram). The others are Workers Party's Lutfun Nesa Khan (Dhaka) and independent Selina Islam (Cumilla).
