‘No scope to show laxity in local polls’

Staff Correspondent: Election Commissioner Mahbub Talukder has said that local government election plays vital role for journey of the country’s democracy. So, there is no scope to show laxity in the polls.

The EC said this while opening training programme for trainers on the fifth upazila polls at ETI Bhaban in the capital’s Agargaon on Sunday.

Mahbub Talukder said, “The fifth upazila parishad election is knocking at the door. You have to perform overall plays, not only pioneering role to make the polls successful.”

He said, “You have to work boldly to uphold the dignity and image of the election commission. Bear in mind, fair polls are among expressions of patriotism.”
