Cumilla Correspondent: At least three people were killed after being hit by a covered van in Kutumbapur area under Chandina upazila of the district on Wednesday.
The deceased were identified as Kazi Rafiqul Islam, 60, son of late Kazi Abdur Mannan, Mahram Ali, 75, son of late Zillur Rahman and Abdul Matin, 65, son of late Haidar Ali.
Highway police Iliotganj outpost in-charge M Monirul Islam said that Dhaka-bound a covered van rammed three jaywalkers, leaving them dead on the spot.
Later, highway police detained the covered van driver.
