CEC satisfied with polls to DNCC

Staff Correspondent: Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) KM Nurul Huda has expressed his satisfaction over the elections to Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) by-polls and councilors for both DNCC and the Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC).

The CEC said this while addressing a rally marking the National Voters’ Day-2019 in the city on Friday.

“Turnout of voters in the election was 31 per cent due to bad weather and non-participation of all political parties. But election to both city corporations were held peacefully as no violent incident took place during the poll time. Even voting was not suspended at any polling centre,” he said.

The National Voter Day is being observed across the country today (March 1) for the first time in a befitting manner.
