Khokon leads eviction drive against chemical godowns

Staff Correspondent: Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) Mayor Sayeed Khokon has spearheaded an eviction drive against chemical godowns and illegal warehouses on Jainag road at Bakshibazar in Old Dhaka.

A taskforce formed by the DSCC was forced to postpone the drive on Saturday morning in the face of local businessmen.

On hearing the news, the mayor visited Bakshibazar around 2:45 pm and restarted the drive.

According to Chawkbazar police, a team of the DSCC found a chemical godown in a residential building on Jainag road in Bakshibazar after conducting a drive there in the morning. But in the face of local businessmen, the team was forced to stop the drive.

The drive against the chemical warehouses restarted after the intervention from the mayor.
