Banani building fire death toll rises to 25

Staff Correspondent: The death toll from the deadly Banani fire has reached 25, Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Gulshan Division Deputy Commissioner (DC) Mostak Ahmed said.

He made the disclosure while addressing reporters in front of the 22-storey FR Tower in Dhaka’s Banani area on Friday morning. 

Mostak Ahmed also said, “Bodies of 25 victims in the fire incident have been recovered and identified. Of them, 24 have been handed over to the families already. One body was not handed over due to some complexities.”

The fire rescuers are still conducting the drive. Some 21 teams of police forces will start working inside the building.

On the other hand, Dhaka Medical College Hospital police outpost in-charge Bacchu Mia disclosed the names of some victims. They are- Atiqur Rahman, 42, Amir Hossain Rabbi, 29, Iftekhar Hossain, 37, Jarin Ahsan Bristi, 25, Tanvir Siddique Abir, 29, Manjur Hasan, 89, Fazle Rabbi, 30, Ahsan Jafar.
