IGP warns of steps against rumours on Boishakh

Senior Correspondent: Inspector General of Police (IGP) Dr Mohammad Javed Patwary has come up with warnings that steps will be taken if any rumour is spread over Pohela Boishakh on social media.
He also said police have taken all-out measures to ensure peaceful celebratration of the very first day of Bengali new year.
IGP said this in a meeting on ‘Law and Order and Security Measures on Pohela Boishakh’ held at Police Headquarters on Monday.
“Instructions have already been issued to take stern actions against those are involved in spreading rumours on social media like Facebook, Twitter and Youtube. Surveillance will also be tightened against the banned militant outfits and organisations. Additional security measures will be ensured at all public gatherings across the country including Dhaka,” he added.
