Tk 5,000 fine for each unregistered SIM

Staff Correspondent: Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) has taken move to slap Tk 5,000 fine for mobile operators for every unregistered or registered with fake information SIM or RIM card sold in its bid to cut down on misuse of mobile connection.

BTRC has already sent letters with instructions related to receiving or dialing illegal calls, unregistered SIM or RIM and biometric verifications to the country’s mobile operators.

The letter was signed by Lt. Col. Mohammad Azizur Rahman Siddiqui, Director of Systems and Service Department of BTRC.
