Telecast of Zee channels suspended in Bangladesh

Staff Correspondent: Transmission of all Zee channels (Zee Bangla, Zee Cinema and Zee TV) of Zee Network has been suspended in Bangladesh.

The telecast of the channels was suspended since Monday as Information Ministry issued directives in this regard, according to Cable Operators Association of Bangladesh (COAB).

According to the Information Ministry, a letter was sent to cable operators which did not ask them to suspend telecast of Zee Network. But it said over monitoring in airing local advertisement on foreign channels.

The letters asked cable operators about which foreign channels are telecasting Bangladeshi advertisements.

Shamima Mitu, official of customer service of Jadoo cable operator, said, “We received a letter from the Ministry of Information. All channels related to Zee Network have been temporarily suspended.”

Abdur Razzaque, deputy secretary of Information Ministry (TV 2, said, “We did not issued directives to suspend transmission of Zee Network, but we asked them to inform us about which channels are airing Bangladeshi advertisement.”

They were asked to inform in this regard within seven days, he added.
