ACC sues Abzal, 9 others for embezzling Tk 37.5cr

Staff Correspondent: The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) filed a case against 10 people, including the former accountant of medical education department of the Directorate General of Health Services, Afzal Hossain, and his wife for embezzling Tk 37.5 crore.
ACC deputy assistant director Shahidur Rahman filed the case with Cox’s Bazar Sadar police station on Friday.
ACC public relation officer Pranab Kumar Bhattacharya confirmed the matter.
The other accused are – Former principal of Cox’s Bazar Medical College Prof Dr Md Rezaul Karim, Prof Dr Subas Chandra Saha, former director of Medical Education Department Prof Dr Md Abdur Rashid, Cox’s Bazar district accounts officer Sukumol Barua and three officials----Surujit Roy Das, Pankaj Kumar Boidya and Hurrama Aktar Khoki----of the district accounts officer’s office.
A four-member team led by ACC deputy director Md Samsul Alam is leading the investigation tasks.
