Bus-auto rickshaw collision kills 5 in Chandpur

Chandpur Correspondent: At least five persons were killed in a collision between a bus and a CNG-powered auto rickshaw in Kakairtola area of Shahrasti upazila in Chandpur on Sunday.

The deceased were identified as Abul Kalam, 65, Fakhrul Islam, 75, Ranzit Chandra Majumdar, 75, Jannatul Fedous Moni, 27 and Roman, 8.

Confirming the matter Chandpur police super (SP) Jihadul Kabir said that the accident took place around 10:00am. Five passengers of the auto rickshaw were killed in the accident.

Locals said that a passenger bus collided with the auto rickshaw on Chandpur-Cumilla highway, leaving four people dead on the spot. Later, another one died at hospital under treatment.

Shahrasti police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Shah Alam said the bodies were sent to Chandpur Hospital morgue for autopsy.
