Voter turnout would be low in Mymensingh city polls: CEC

Staff Correspondent, Mymensingh: Chief Election Commissioner K M Nurul Huda said, the presence of voters would be less in Mymensingh city election as a big political party skips the polls. 

The CEC made the opinion while addressing a view exchange meeting at Mymensing circuit house conference room on Monday noon.

He said no one will be able to cast fake votes as EVM systems will be used in Mymensingh polls.

“The election commission is providing training to the voters to use Electronic Voting Machines (EVM). We have created a favorable environment so that voters can return home safely after casting their votes,” he said.

Director General of the National Identity Registration Section Brigadier General Md Saidul Islam, Additional secretary Mokhlesur Rahman, Mymensingh acting divisional commissioner H M Lokman and others attended the function.

The maiden election to Mymensingh City Corporation will be held on May 5. EVM will be used in all the 130 centers in the polls.
