Staff Correspondent: A writ petition has been filed with the High Court seeking withdrawal of a circular on shifting the trials of Khaleda Zia to a makeshift court in Keraniganj jail.
Khaleda Zia’s lawyer barrister Kaiser Kamal filed the writ petition with the concerned wing of the High Court on Sunday.
The HC bench of Justice Farah Mahbub and Justice Md Khairul Alam fixed May for hearing in the writ petition.
“Earlier, a legal notice was served to the secretary of law ministry on May 21. But, there was no response. That’s why the writ was filed today,” said the lawyer.
On May 12, the law ministry issued a circular on shifting the trials to a makeshift court in Keraniganj jail. Later, BNP sent a legal notice to the government challenging the circular.
