Metro rail service to be launched in 2021

Staff Correspondent: Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader has said that the much-hyped metro rail service will be launched in December of 2021, the golden jubilee year of independence.

The minister revealed the information while talking to reporters at the project’s Agargaon site office on Wednesday noon.

Construction work of the Mass-Rapid Transport (MRT) project is going on in full swing so that we can launch it in December 16, 2021, he said.

Besides, construction work of the first phase of the Mass-Rapid Transport (MRT) Line-6 project (Uttara to Agargaon) will be completed in December this year, he said.

By December 2020, construction of the second phase (Agargaon to Motijheel) will be completed but many works will remain, he added.

Six more metro rail lines will be constructed for smooth communication in the city, said Obaidul Quader.
