Yaba trader killed in gunfight with BGB

Cox’s Bazar Correspondent: A Yaba trader was killed in “gunfight” with Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) in Gafur project area adjacent to Naf River in Teknaf upazila early Friday.

The identity of the deceased could not be known immediately.

Teknaf BGB-2 Battalion Commander lieutenant colonel Faisal Hasan Khan said, a boat was crossing Naf River early morning. Meanwhile, BGB patrol team signaled the boat to halt but drug traders in the boat opened fire aiming the law enforcers. In reply, BGB personnel also opened fire.

Later, a bullet-hit drug trader was found in the spot. 1 lakh pieces of Yaba pills and a sharp weapon were also recovered from the boat.

The body was sent to Cox’s Bazar Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy.
