Senior Correspondent: Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan has said that dope test would be made compulsory for government jobs.
The decision was approved in principle by the cabinet, he told the media at the Home Ministry on the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking on Tuesday.
Asaduzzaman said, “Proper action will be taken against government officials who are drug addicts. We are introducing dope test for government job seekers.”
“If drug is found in the blood sample of an aspirant, the government might cancel his application,” he added.
He further said, “Prime Minister has already given her approval in this regard.”
In reply to a query, he continued, “The law enforcement agencies do not kill anyone. They have lists [of drug dealers] and at various times, they conduct drives. At those times such incidents [gunfights] take place if they [the law enforcement] are challenged.”
