HC now looks at powdered milk

Staff Correspondent: A High Court (HC) bench has now looked at powdered milk, following a ban issued by another HC bench on production and sale for 13 companies’ pasteurised milk because of existing harmful substances to human body.

The court said, “We are only busy with pasteurised milk. It needs to have a look at powdered milk to check what it contains. We do not want that foreign powdered milk cannot occupy the local market of milk and dairy products taking any opportunity.”

The HC bench of Justice Md Nazrul Islam Talukder and Justice KM Hafizul Alam came up with the observation during hearing a suo moto (voluntary) rule issued in this regard on Monday.

This court will not pass any such order by which dairy farms and companies are affected and prejudiced, Justice Nazrul Islam Talukder said.
