KMA Hasnath: The government is set to import liquefied natural gas (LNG) to meet the country’s growing gas demand.
For this, the government has already prepared a list of suppliers based on Master Sale and Purchase Agreement (MSPA).
A proposal in this regard is likely to present at the meeting of cabinet committee on economic affairs for approval on principle.
According to sources of The Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry, the proposal is set to be presented at the meeting to be held at the conference room of the cabinet division, Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal in chair, on Wednesday.
According to sources, Bangladesh is currently importing LNG through deals of Qatar Gas and Oman Trading International. Price of LNG remains less at different times of the year than that of long-term contract. So, the government is set to import LNG from spot market.
