State appeals seeking stay on Minni’s bail

Staff Correspondent: The state has filed an appeal petition seeking stay on HC order that granted conditional bail to Ayesha Siddika Minni, wife of slain Rifat Sharif.

State Advocate on record Sufia Khatun filed the petition with the division concerned of the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court (SC) around 4:00pm on Sunday.

Hearing on the petition is likely to be held at chamber court of the Appellate Division on Monday.

Earler on August 29, the HC bench of Justice M Enayetur Rahim and Justice Md Mostafizur Rahman HC granted permanent bail to Minni on condition of not speaking to media.

On June 26, miscreants swooped on Rifat Sharif with machetes in front of Barguna Government College in broad day light, leaving him critically injured. Later, he succumbed in Sher-e-Bangla Medical College and Hospital on the day.
