Doctors’ attendance in govt hospitals rise by 80pc

Asad Al Mahmud: Health and Family Welfare ministry formed a monitoring cell to increase the attendance of doctors, nurse, officers and staffs in government hospitals.

Health and Family Welfare Minister Zahid Maleque himself is observing the issue.

The concerned sources said the attendance of doctors in the country’s hospitals has increased 75 percent to 80 percent due to the ministry’s monitoring.

Sources said, doctors and concerned staffs used to serve personal chambers avoiding government hospitals. The incumbent government took initiatives to increase the attendance of doctors and health officials.

In 2013, then health minister professor Dr AFM Ruhul Haque expressed dissatisfaction when he found about 6,000 doctors remain absent in their work stations. A committee was formed in this regard also. Later, Health Minister Mohammad Nasim also warned the health officials.

Finally, Health and Family Welfare Minister Zahid Maleque formed a monitoring cell in February last and started checking the updates.

Biometric machines were set up in various hospitals and health centers to monitor the attendance of doctors electronically.
